PUBLIC FORUM ON: Marginalization & Islamophobia in the Press
The RSU (Ryerson Students Union) is hosting a panel to highlight the recent Human Rights case launched against Maclean's magazine, specifically an article titled "The Future Belongs to Islam" written by Mark Steyn, and discuss media coverage of marginalized groups namely Muslims, racialized communities and women.

Toronto Area Alert: Ryerson Talk Against Free Speech and the Press
Information on a Ryerson Student's Union / Canadian Federation of Students efforts to legitimize/support the suppression of freedom of the press and speech in this country. Hopefully, people from all sides of the political spectrum who share the ideal of free speech rights, will be there to deny these "progressive fascists" an unchallenged forum:

Sorry I have to ask how you know CFS has anything to do with this event. I mean I'd never put such idiocy past the buffons at the CFS but Im not finding there connection to this.

Ryerson student council is disproportionately Muslims... is it any surprise they'd host this?

Sorry I have to ask how you know CFS has anything to do with this event. I mean I'd never put such idiocy past the buffons at the CFS but Im not finding there connection to this.
If you look at my next post with the MP3 audio link, you will clearly see 16 minutes into the recording that they announce a coalition with the Canadian Federation of Students to push for expanded HRC powers, etc. It's appalling.

andrew e get your facts straight, varun malhotra is not muslim, just because you see a name that you are not familiar with doesnt mean they are muslim.....
the only reason nora and the gang keep coming back, is on the basis on muslim votes, eg:- who in their right mind would vote for mohammed ali jabbar, usually the post of the president should taken by someone who is dynamic, but in ryerson's case they just keep bringing him back to bag the muslim votes, so for people who wonder why it is disproportionate its pretty simple
anon1: people voted for muhammad ali because he has the experiance and the ability to lead the RSU. he did it successfully before, he will probably do it again.
according to andrew e's comment, abe snobar is also muslim, and he was running against ali.. so it doesn't make much sense that ali became president on the basis of muslim votes only.
There is also a another reason why Muhammad Ali Jabbar won the election. People should realize that Ali Jabbar maintained balanced campaigns during his first tenure and there was peace and harmony during that time. Now if you go back and check when Nora was the president and Abe Snobar and Heather Kere were VP Life and VP Education respectively, there were campaigns that caused pain to other student groups in campus, I dont want to name them but whoever is reading this would know it if you check the eyeopener (http://www.theeyeopener.com/).
2. Muhammad Ali Jabbar and Abe (Ibrahim Snobar) are both Muslims. But one should realise what kind of Muslim changes his name from Ibrahim, which is such a powerful and respected name in muslim community to "Abe". This is a sign of inferiority complex. Canada is a multicultural country and people are accepted as they are. The only reason Ibrahim Snobar or "Abe" would go by Abe is because he wants to hide his true name Ibrahim which has signiiant importance in Islam.
3. The other thing that makes people think about voting for Abe is that he says he is a muslim but he drinks and parties alot and he is regarded by most of muslims as an arrogant person. He does pray and help muslims and other religious groups but he is not viewed as a "Leader". I say he is still younger and needs to learn more before he could take on Ali Jabbar.
