I will say that this is my decision, and I'm not doing this at the behest of the Conservative Party. In fact, they have nothing to do with it.
I had a bad day, and the post was excessively negative. However, my criticism that I don't agree with "corporate welfare" still stands. More on that later.
Update: Anger and Outrage.
Update 2: Robert McLelland wannabe Ti-Guy weighs in with the most nonsensical response I've ever read:
Now he's trying to characterise the reaction to this as somehow a challenge to his property rights.
Honestly, it's the conservative analysis (if we can even call it that) that gets up my nose far more often than whatever issue it is they're moaning about.
...actually, it's not even that. It's the equivalent, yet again, of calling everyone else Taliban-huggers. Disagree with them, and you're in bed with the terrorists.
I know, I don't have words either.
Update 3: Bloggergate grows, while a spineless anonymous commenter schools me on "blogging etiquette":
Some people in the blogosphere actually value the commonly respected etiquette, which does not include deleting posts. Us real bloggers stand by our words.
By doing what you have done, you have disrespected other decent bloggers on both the left and the right.
Now, you don't even have the courage to fess up to it.
Shame!
You have no idea how amusing this is to me, right now. I mean, are you people for real?

Deleting blog posts is bad form! You're supposed to revise through updates... you don't DELETE!
File a human rights complaint.
Sorry I missed it.
We all have bad days, we all make mistakes, but it's too clever by half to push it as far as you do, and then delete your posts when someone take the time and effort to call you on your BS. I'm actually a bit shocked.
We all need to rant at times.
And it's your blog. So far the decision to delete a post is still your call to make. Who knows what will happen in the future. ;)

"anonybot whines... Deleting blog posts is bad form!"
hey, nonny... who died and made you blogosphere police chief?
if it's good enough for the cbc and the grope & flail... it's good enough for me.

You're not quite the free speech absolutist you claim if you cave to a little peer pressure, are you?
Unbelievable.
You're not quite the free speech absolutist you claim if you cave to a little peer pressure, are you?
That's the most nonsense position, ever. I don't even know how to deconstruct your horrible logic.
Choosing to censor myself, or allowing my friend to convince me not to say something, or making that decision for myself is an expression for free speech, because it was my choice.
You bloody people are something else, I swear.
The inability of people on the other side of this debate who are seemingly incapable of separating independent concepts from the other is absolutely beyond me.
If I have a blog, like this, and I choose to delete your comment or delete my own comments, I am not violating your free speech, because you can go setup your own blog and post elsewhere. I am not legally impinging on your rights.
Private censorship is completely reasonable. Free speech does not require me, as a private citizen to entertain your speech. I simply cannot deny it of you. But I can deny you my forum.
Anybody who can't see the difference, or who thinks that is a hypocritical position, is an idiot, plain and simple.
"Anybody who can't see the difference, or who thinks that is a hypocritical position, is an idiot, plain and simple."
Cogent analysis. This would explain a lot, wouldn't it? Seriously, some of these people are being disingenuous, but others just don't get it.
Mike, could you please repost the deleted post, so we can figure out why you deleted it?
What did I say about "disappearing evidence" the last time I commented here?
You're a big sissy, Mike.
I'm shocked by you doing whatever the hell you want with your own intellectual property on your own site.
You're officially kicked out of the Great Blog Collective!
Yeah! Fixed your wagon!
Settled your hash, buddy!
Ha!
Occam's Carbuncle
I'm shocked by you doing whatever the hell you want with your own intellectual property on your own site.
Of all the treacherous things I could have done!
Mike, could you please repost the deleted post, so we can figure out why you deleted it?
No.
asshole.
Anger and Outrage
Stop trying to turn this issue around Brock-o.

What does any of that nonsense have to do with the fact that you gave up your own free speech to peer pressure? I read the post last night. Did a "friend" in the blogging Tories scold you for criticizing Harper?
You caved big time. It's pathetic to watch.
'Mike, could you please repost the deleted post, so we can figure out why you deleted it?
No."
Mike. It was a joke. Give your head a shake and stop taking yourself so frickin' seriously.
Yeah Mike. Stop taking yourself so seriously. Or we'll call you an asshole. Because it's bad form to take yourself so seriously, you unbelievable asshole! We are shocked by how seriously you take yourself.
Asshole! Stop disrespecting us with your seriousness.
Occam's Carbuncle
Occam, you used to be able to distinguish between witless abuse and lighter needling. The years, I see, have not been kind.
Robert McLelland (sic) wannabe Ti-Guy weights (sic) in with the most nonsensical response I've ever read:
Why you little bitch...
I would have challenged you here, instead of over at CC's, but you've got so much vermin infesting your blog, I'm afraid of being exposed to Hanta virus every time I come here.
It's hyperbole, Mike. H-Y-P-E-...well, you know how it's spelled.
"File a human rights complaint."
how 'bout we just call you an orwellian coward instead?
KEvron
"doing whatever the hell you want with your own intellectual property on your own site"
lol! did you read the lede? "I am retracting my previous post, in response to a desperate request...."
KEvron
Quick, somebody get a screen shot of TiGuy using the "it's hyperbole" defence.
When anyone else uses it, look out. You face the wrath of LittleBittyLib's anonymous hunchback for sure.
Fat dwarves should avoid the topic of physical anomalies altogether.
"Occam, you used to be able to distinguish between witless abuse and lighter needling. The years, I see, have not been kind."
You assume, my contrarian friend, that the choice of the former necessarily precludes the ability to distinguish between the two. Unto everything there is a season.
Fear not, Balbulican, swift-footed Time hath drawn no lines upon my prefrontal cortex with its antique pen.
OC
'Twas not swift-footed time who ravages I feared, but thy dalliance o'er long among the bilious and splenetic.
Splenetic...I have to remember that when I feel I'm overusing "harpy," "harridan," "bilious," "intemperate," "histrionic," and "insane."
But I am the bilious and splenetic. Tis no dalliance.
Nay, nay, thy bile and spleen at least are leaven'd well with wit,
Which raiseth them a notch or two above the normal shit.
It would be best if those debating the issue, such as yourself, kept to the issue at hand, the HRC kangaroo courts, instead of allowing it to morph into a Kinsella issue. Kinsella's senseless diatribes about the issue are gathering too much of the attention. The end result is repeated violations of Godwin's Law.
Additionally, this Ti-Guy has an explosive tongue that is reminiscent of the spouting that goes on at DailyKos. So don't even bother trying to make sense of it, there is none.
I missed that post. But it is good that you realised and deleted.
Keep writing!!
